13 April:
We spent the afternoon in Zinacantan, a village outside San Cristobal, and made friends with a girl and her family who invited us 'play' in their yard. They were Mayan desendants, called Tzoziles. Tzozil is the native tongue of the indigenous people in this part of Chiapas, many people don't speak Spanish, even of the young generations.
Tigerlily and I have Salmonella. She was not very well at all for several weeks. It's been quite a journey with doctors and finding out what's wrong.
We've been 'stuck' in San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas for over a month. For the past few weeks we have been staying with Linda, a wonderful woman, who does a lot of work for families here. She has been spoiling us and it's going to be hard to leave the comfort of her home. The adventurer in me hasn't been too happy about the fact that we've spent more time in one place than actually travelling, but Tigerlily's well-being comes first and that's something I won't compromise.
