27 March:
We arrived in San Christobal de las Casas in the southern state of Chiapas a week ago. Apart from from having a super adventure we are also plagued with illness that isn`t disappearing and consequently prooves to be a big hold up.
Our route so far was OAXACA to TEHUANTEPEC by the pacific coast. We then took a bus off route going north up the coast to Zipolite, nr Purto Escondido, where we got ill and were stuck waiting recovery (which didn't happen) for 12 days! Then we returned to TEHUANTEPEC, continuing by bike back into mountains via TUXLA then onto SAN CHRISTOBAL, the very pretty Colonial town in the heart on country rich in indigenous culture. Very hard to take photos here, though having a child does help, at least with children.
Deciding whether to go straight into Guatemala or head to the Yucutan via Palenque, some of Mexico's most glorious ruins and then into Belize.
This is a photo of a very kind family we stayed with along the way
